Bethany Lutheran Church in Lindsborg was part of the Kansas Conference of the Augustana Synod. Members of the Synod met every year to discuss issues related to the member churches. Nor surprisingly, World War I was discussed, especially beginning in 1917 (the U.S. declared war just a few weeks before the 1917 meeting). The minutes contain statements in both Swedish and English. Sections in Swedish related to World War I have been translated and can be accessed below. The original minutes are available at the Bethany College library. The exact title of the volumes are: Referat Lutherska Kansas-Konferensens af Augustana Synoden, and a complete Chicago Manual of Style bibliographic entry is available in each translation.
